How far back do you need to go to start building your new body?

When it comes to finally deciding to start taking consistent care of their bodies, the number one reason why it feels so darn hard for so many people is the thought of having to undo all those years of unhealthy living. How far back would you need to go in order to “start over,” creating the healthy and fit body you have been trying so hard to obtain? Well, here is the good news: you don’t have to go back to your high school body — but you do have to draw the starting line for the “manufacturing” of your body. This starting line is the most critical part of the process for “manufacturing” a healthy and fit body, because what you start with is what you get at the end. You can’t expect to put coal into one end and have gold come out the other. Using cheap, low-quality bricks or wood, you will never build a sturdy, storm-resistant house.

The food you put into your body is the construction material you’re using to build your body: strong and toned muscles, healthy heart, strong lungs, good digestion, glowing skin, etc. The food you put onto your plate is, in fact, the building blocks of your body.

You might say, “Yes, but my problem is that I know the right thing to do, and yet I still sabotage my own health and body.”

Well, then start with what comes before food: your thoughts! And I know it might sound cliche, but I can’t tell you enough how critical your thoughts are when it comes to losing weight, getting in shape, and keeping your fit and healthy body for the rest of your life. Nothing, and nobody, has the power to get you off your healthy eating track except your own thoughts. Period.

Picture a garden full of weeds, but also some beautiful flowers. If you focus only on the flowers by watering, nourishing, and protecting them, they will eventually flourish, while weeds without water, sun, and attention will eventually die. The flowers will take over your attention and, eventually, the whole garden. Those flowers are the good and healthy parts and cells of your body. Keep your thoughts focused on the flowers/healthy body. Don’t tell me there are no healthy parts of your body. There must be some healthy cells in your body; otherwise, you would not be reading this — you would be dead (I don’t want to sound mean — it is simply a fact). If you focus on those healthy cells and think healthy thoughts, those healthy cells will start overpowering the unhealthy cells/weeds.

You see, you do not have to be nostalgic about your body and mourn your youthful, energetic, lean body. Instead of constantly going back to your high school body and being sad about the fact that life has changed your body, go back to your thoughts and reset your default thinking. Once your thoughts become more consistent, you start feeling as if your body is healthy and fit. Like your garden, suddenly the weeds become invisible because you are seeing, smelling, and enjoying more flowers than weeds.

Those happy feelings will influence your whole day, including your food choices. This is an important fact: Happy thoughts don’t need and don’t like heavy foods; they like light and healthy foods. Your negative thoughts and feelings will keep asking for ice cream, chips, pizza, etc. And guess what? Even if you feed those feelings with all that junk food, they will still never be satisfied.

So, how can you stop the vicious cycle of “feeling bad, eating bad,” and sabotaging your health and body? How do you stick to choosing the most valuable and highest-quality materials for building your body? You must focus on the flowers all day and night, rain or shine, because just one tiny weed can steal your focus away. However, all it takes is one flower to get you back to building your own Masterpiece.

Your life is so precious, and your body is a beautiful gift. Stop ignoring them and dishonor them by only paying attention to things of less value.
