Which Fitness App is the Best?
You Already Have It, and It’s Built into Your Body.
The best Fitness App is built into the software of your body, so you don’t have to “download” it; however, you will have to learn how to use it.
Lately, my biggest concern is all the technology that is supposed to help us take care of our bodies and improve our fitness level: counting the steps we take throughout the day, adding up our calories, logging how much we’ve eaten during the day, and tracking whether we are getting sufficient sleep. Honestly, do we really need someone else to tell us if we are sleepy?
Yes, it might sound comical, but it’s actually very sad for me to observe how gadget-dependent we have become.
For instance, my best friend won’t go to bed unless she reaches her daily goal, so she marches in place by her bed at night until she meets the step goal recommended by her fitness app. She won’t allow herself to go to bed until she hits it. And I am confident that she is not the only one who is a slave to her App. Yes, the guilt of not meeting the step goal (or any other rigidly prescribed “health” goal) drives us to push our bodies — but are we doing it for the benefit of our bodies, or are we so obsessed with reaching the prescribed goal?
