What Shapes Your Body?

I am a huge believer in the Law of Attraction, and I know that our Now is our very last thought. And therefore, I am an even bigger believer (and a happy and fit body coach) of “The shape of our body today, is the reflection of our thoughts about ourselves yesterday.”

How do you break the chain of negative thoughts about your body and, instead, set the great momentum of freedom and of being CEO of your body, mind, and soul?

Abraham-Hicks (whom I love and have been following for a long time) teaches the Law of Attraction and suggests starting new thoughts and setting the momentum in the morning: “If we were standing in your physical shoes, we would acknowledge the fresh new day!” “I can push the reset button. I have complete control over my point of attraction today! I will look for things that feel good today!”

However, I know how hard it is to come up with positive and joyful thoughts from scratch; I have been there, and almost all of my clients have been there as well. It is a huge challenge to think happy thoughts after a crappy day that ended with eating crappy food. It would literally take every ounce of my energy (which I didn’t really have) to think happy thoughts — not just because of the impact of the bad food on my body, but mostly out of anger at letting external circumstances control my morning. So, I agree with you: to feel happy after a crappy day (and night) is like building a house of cards without any base.

So, how do you start your momentum of happy thoughts and waking up happy in the morning? A week later? Then a month later? A year later?

You start the day before.

You heard correctly: your “tomorrow morning” starts today, right NOW. It starts this very minute, so the next minute you are happy and joyful. For the next hour, you have already built up the momentum of your happiness. When you keep that momentum going, you create a happy and healthy day, which will roll into a happy and healthy morning. Once you are all lined up in your Soul Tracks (please see my Soul Tracks post), this small, happy moment will evolve into the compounding momentum of your happy, healthy, and blissful year — or, as I like to say, kick-ass CEO of my life year.

Simply by reading this post, your momentum has already started and has been rolling for the last 5 minutes. You might get further inspiration to search for another article or post about healthy eating, exercising, or meditating. Before you know it, 5 minutes has turned into one hour of happy and healthy thoughts. As a result of reading and learning more about healthy nutrition, you decide to have a healthy lunch and dinner — and now you are on a roll to carry this great happy and healthy energy into tomorrow morning. By continuing to commit every moment, minute, and hour to honestly taking care of your body, listening to your body, and following your body’s wishes (when it is tired, the body is asking for a good night’s sleep; if it is weak, it is asking for exercise; and if it is ill, it is asking for healthy nutrients, etc.), you build a great base — not for your house of cards, but for your CEO house. You ate well, you exercised, you took care of your body: you created plenty of “material” for building those happy thoughts in the morning when you wake up. There is no need to start from scratch.

Commit to yourself right now that every decision you make for your body (eating, exercising, nurturing) is not stemming from your boyfriend’s critique of your body, the disrespect of your rude boss, or a loss of friendship (it was fake anyway), but that every decision about your body is made out of LOVE.

Joseph Pilates (the creator of the Pilates method) said, “Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”

Our HAPPINESS begins the day before, with going to bed satisfied with our choices for our body, being proud of ourselves for working out and not caving in to chips, pizza, and ice cream just because we had a tough day. When you go to bed feeling grateful for your body serving you well and vice versa, it sets that energy you wake up with the next day. It is not fake or pretended energy; it is TRUE energy, the true joy, and pride of loving your body.

I will end the post with one more great quote from Joseph Pilates (who clearly “GOT IT”):

“It is the mind itself which shapes the body.”

I like to add: “Build the momentum and let the momentum work for you.” That’s what we CEOs of life like to do.
