The Jumpstart to Your Fit Body…
…and to never going back!
After being a Fitness and Wellness Coach for almost 30 years, and after being on both ends of fit and unfit myself, having experienced the happy and miserable ends of the stick — this is what I can proclaim with 110% certainty (and, by the way, how many things these days can you claim with 100% certainty?) If your life is not what you have been dreaming of, if it looks like you have pushed the wrong buttons while searching for the “happiness” button… once you are able to transform your body and become CEO of your body, mind, and soul (aka master of your lifestyle habits, nutrition, and exercise), I promise you will finally find the “happiness” button, and your life will improve on all levels (relationships, career, business, health, and overall joyful living). I truly believe that Transforming your Body and being able to maintain this transformation is the cure for our cultural illness, called “My Life Sucks.”
My second 100% certainty is that we are all able to cure this illness and capable of improving our bodies if we truly want it and set our minds to it. Therefore, I have created this little Jumpstart for becoming CEO of your body, mind, and soul. But before I send you along the path to your butterfly metamorphosis and you take to the sky, I would like to ask you: how many times have you heard about other people’s attempts to “jumpstart” a fast-track weight loss plan or “get into shape” with a super-strict diet and excessive workouts? How many times have you done your own version of a “jumpstart?” Almost every single one of my clients has answered this question with “Several times.” But why “several?” Because their version of a “jumpstart” is not really a jumpstart — it is a “jump” alright, but rather a “jump-stop.” Just picture what happens to a car if you slam down the gas pedal as hard as you can. Is it even possible to continue with a smooth ride after that wild jumpstart?
Here is my much smoother, ultimate Jumpstart to your Fit and Happy Body. Why do I say “ultimate?” Because this is the one and only perpetual jumpstart you will ever need to create the very body that will satisfy you for the rest of your life.
- MIND Work:
Your thoughts are very powerful weapons. Start taking your thoughts more seriously — I would say, take them super-seriously. Think of them as your most powerful defenses to use while fighting through and surviving the jungles of self-doubt, self-judgment, self-sabotage, and blame of yourself or others. Just think about the power your negative thoughts have had over you, sabotaging you from creating the body you have always wanted. Well, this same power can be granted to your positive and self-loving thoughts, but with very different final results that will bring you so much more satisfaction. I promise you, this is no joke. I take my thoughts even more seriously than I take my anti-wrinkle eye cream — and you know how essential anti-wrinkle eye cream is for a 55-year-young woman!
2. BODY Work:
Our bodies love to try new things — unlike our minds, which are stubborn and hate the new and the unknown. Our muscles, hearts, and lungs respond with excitement to new things — like new exercises, new hiking places, or new sports activities. To get your body into its most effective mode for creating your desired shape and size, seek out and try a new hiking trail, test out a new class in the gym or online, or try a new sport like golf, biking, tennis, or yoga. Make it a “NEW ME” week. Find the courage to let go of your old routines for a week by doing something you have never done before, and discover your body’s eagerness to become Heavenly :). Allow your muscles to become sore again by doing something new. Let the blood flow into each cell of your body, carrying with it the nutrients to make you glow. Let your lungs scream, “Hell yes, let the fun begin!”
3. SOUL Work:
I can’t begin to tell you how much the act of journaling has changed my life. I had underestimated the power and therapeutic benefits of writing for a long time, because it seemed so simple. However, over the past 10 years, journaling has become my “trash can” and my most loyal therapist by allowing me to dump all of my anger, self-doubt, insecurity, and fear onto the paper. And at the same time, journaling has become my “life coach” by providing me with inner guidance and wisdom from the Invisible Source — Divine Intelligence. Most of my creative ideas and the answers to my next-step questions have come to me during my morning journaling. As a 55-year-old female with over 30 years of personal training experience, I have learned that the #1 cause for our self-sabotage of keeping our bodies happy and in healthy shape is our WORRY. We worry about not being good enough, pretty enough, strong enough, supportive enough, caring enough… and we have a tendency to cope with this worry by eating more ice cream, chips, pizza, and wine.
I am not saying that journaling alone will solve the very issue that is causing your worry; however, writing those worries down in your journal will release the pressure to deal with your worries by consuming more food. Let the journal be the band-aid for your pain instead of food. By journaling, you might be able to release the pain — but also to find a solution or a “next step.” You will never find the solution in your food or wine.
Here are some of my preferences, and things to consider when you’re looking for a journal:
- I like softcover vs. hardcover journals (I like faux leather because it is easier to keep open while I write; the hardcover journals keep closing when I am sitting on the sofa and writing on my lap).
- I like lined paper vs. blank pages (I don’t like to write without lines).
- I like plain, simple journals without any pre-designed pages, vs. those with pre-designed pages. (When I write, I write; I don’t need any fancy comments, quotes, reminders, pictures, or categories.)
- I like non-spiral notebooks vs spiral notebooks (the spirals tend to get in the way of my wrist while I’m writing).
- I don’t buy expensive journals because I go through them quickly.
4. Food work:
If you think about it, we are smart and intelligent beings, and we know which foods are good for us and which are not. We eat mostly healthy food for lunch and dinner. So why is it that our bodies don’t visually reflect our healthy choices? It’s because it is not those healthy main meals with which we are struggling; it is the “tiny” little snacks we consume between lunch and dinner — the food at the desk, the snacks in the car, and the nighttime secret stash of chocolate or Ben and Jerry’s when something goes wrong during the day. Therefore, start paying attention to those “tiny” bites. Find tasty and healthy snacks and keep them in your purse for emergencies: nuts, protein bars, fruit… and never leave your house without water.
5. CEO Work:
It is my passion and my deepest desire to help every woman become CEO of her body, mind, and soul. I know how it feels when you are not, and when you are a slave to your own body shaming — but I also know how it feels when you are free from it. And let me tell you, there is NO comparison. Once you conquer the endless fight with your body and, rather, spend all the time and energy on making your dreams a reality, your life will completely transform. Therefore, don’t waste one more moment of your life without being your own CEO: Centered, Empowered, Original.
Decide, stay committed, and enjoy the ride!
It is YOUR time to Shine!
