This past weekend, I attended my friend’s big 60th birthday party, where I met many new, wonderful, fun, and inspirational women.

Of course, we chatted about working hard to overcome menopausal obstacles when I mentioned what I do (Pilates Instructor and Wellness Coach).

However, what stood out for me was an interesting conversation with a woman who had felt pressured by today’s culture and lowered her fitness and wellness expectations bar, which led her to stop taking care of her body.

She’d stopped worrying about being overweight and added another 10 pounds to the previous ones. She said she felt like she was stuck in the mud. “I went with the cultural fat acceptance, hoping to avoid stressing about my body image, but instead, it backfired. I feel so depressed now,” she shared with me.
