Make your lifestyle plan instead of your New Year’s resolutions.
As I was reading the book Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch, I found one section of the book to be particularly fascinating. The book is actually the author’s conversation with God, and in one particular part, he asks God about our bodies.
God’s answer, in the book, was an “aha” moment for me: “My son, your body was designed to last forever. I made your bodies that would last forever. Do you really think the best God could do, the best I could come up with, was a body that could make it 60,70, maybe 80 years before falling apart? Is that, do you imagine, the limit of My ability? …I designed your magnificent body to last forever.”
I thought, well then, if we take care of our bodies as best we can, then we will “easily” live 100 years — which would mean that our “50” is just the halfway-point of our lives. We have another 50 years to live happily and healthily. However, the second half is when the party starts, because of all that we’ve learned from the challenges, the lessons, and the lemons we’ve encountered along the way. By 50, we definitely know what we like and what we don’t like in terms of relationships, friendships, jobs, interests, food, looks, feelings, hobbies, etc.
