I was speaking with my friend, who I have not seen for many years because we live in different countries. She was telling me how unhappy, frustrated, and stuck she was feeling in her life and her body.

She was absolutely aware of the fact that she had created the situation she was living in. However, she didn’t know how to get herself out of that situation — an unhappy and unhealthy life and body.

We started to work on a plan for her to take charge of her body (since that approach is more realistic than taking charge of other people’s behavior), but I could tell she had run out of motivation to get back to exercising and eating balanced and healthy food. I realized we did not even have the foundation to build the house she wanted. So, how do you build a home without a solid base?
