Voila — here are 8 easy micro-steps to start a healthy lifestyle without too much sacrificing.
Very few people I know have been able to stick to their new healthy habits after starting “cold turkey.” The majority of those who start with big changes in diet and exercise end up sticking with those changes for two to three months at most, and after that, they go back to their old routines. We humans have very stubborn minds that don’t like change and don’t like to be told what to do. Therefore, I tell my clients, “You have to be smarter than your mind.” The mind builds a big wall that won’t let anything come through it. However, if you try to sneak in some small changes here and there, the mind won’t even notice and thus won’t fight it.
Also, I always point out to my clients that one small change helps or supports other changes. When you start improving your eating, your body will naturally ask for activities like walking or playing sports. So, to make your healthy changes more effective, try to make those micro-changes on multiple platforms at the same time: nutritional, physical, mental, and spiritual.
